Jubilee Yātra in the Diocese of Palayamkottai


On the 11th of January 2024, within the Diocese of Palayamkottai, a significant event transpired in the form of a Jubilee Yātra, coinciding with a clergy recollection. The distinguished Bishop of Palayamkottai, Most Rev. Dr. Antonysamy Savarimuthu, presiding over the Yātra, articulated the profound essence of jubilees as moments conducive to both personal and collective rejuvenation. On this occasion, the clergy, in collaboration with the Bishop, engaged in a thoughtful contemplation of the synthesis report originating from the inaugural session of the XVI general assembly of the synod for a synodal church. This reflective session aimed to deepen their comprehension of the synodal process and its implications for the local Church.


In a forward-looking initiative, the clergy, under the guidance of Most Rev. Dr. Antonysamy Savarimuthu, actively participated in the formulation of comprehensive programs designed to commemorate the Jubilee in 2025 within the Diocese of Palayamkottai. The emphasis lay on creating initiatives that would not only celebrate the jubilee but also contribute to spiritual growth, community involvement, and a strengthened sense of shared responsibility among the faithful.


The overarching theme of synodality echoed prominently throughout the discussions, signifying a collective effort to integrate the principles of a synodal Church into the fabric of the Diocese of Palayamkottai. This approach seeks to foster active participation, open dialogue, and collaborative decision-making, aligning with the broader vision of the Church.

Jubilee Yātra in the Diocese of Sivagangai


The Jubilee Yātra held during the annual clergy reunion in the Diocese of Sivagangai, Tamil Nadu, from January 8-10, 2024, at the Vianney Pastoral Centre, stands as a beacon of transformative hope and renewal. Under the guiding theme, ‘Pilgrims of Hope on the Synodal Journey: Integrated Pathways for Pastoral Ministry,’ the event brought together 162 clergy members, and men religious. 

Most Rev. Dr. Lourdu Anandam, the esteemed Bishop of Sivagangai, encapsulated the essence of the Yātra by expressing, “The Jubilee Yātra set in the context of the synod for a synodal church, has been a profound journey of hope and renewal. It is our collective commitment to fostering integrated pathways for pastoral ministry that will resonate throughout our diocese.”

 

Throughout the Yātra, the Vianney Pastoral Centre provided a serene backdrop for collaborative discussions, workshops, and moments of prayer and reflection. The event’s culmination on January 10 was marked by a symbolic commitment ceremony, signifying the shared dedication of the clergy to the principles of the synodal journey and the enhancement of pastoral ministry within the diocese.

 

The Jubilee Yātra not only served as an occasion for learning and spiritual reflection but also strengthened the bonds of the clergy community. The insights gained during this profound journey are expected to guide future initiatives and practices within the Diocese of Sivagangai, fostering a more collaborative and integrated approach to pastoral ministry. 

 

Through the method of conversation in the spirit, the participants evolved a list of ten pastoral priorities, and calls to action for the Diocese. 

 

The clergy reunion was a time for the priests of the Diocese of Sivagangai to come together for prayer, reflection, and fellowship. It was also an opportunity for them to learn from one another and to be challenged to grow in their faith and ministry.

Jubilee 2025 Preparations in Tiruchirappalli

St. Theresa's Church, Crawford, Tiruchirappalli Unveils Jubilee 2025 Preparations

In anticipation of the upcoming Jubilee 2025 celebration, St. Theresa's Church in Crawford, Tiruchirappalli, is proud to announce the commencement of its preparatory activities, marking a significant milestone in the spiritual journey of the parish.

The Jubilee 2025 flag was ceremoniously unfurled on Monday, 1 January 2024, by the Rev. Fr. V. Maria Alphonse, a Faculty Member at Sacred Heart Seminary, Poonamallee, Chennai, and by Rev. Prof. Dr. Yesu Karunanidhi, National Coordinator for the Jubilee 2025, in the presence of Rev. Fr. J. Victor Emmanuel, the Parish Priest and the Vicar Forane. 

This symbolic act inaugurates a period of reflection, gratitude, and fervent preparations for the grand celebration that will unfold in the coming months.

Key Highlights of the Jubilee 2025 Preparations:

1. Year of Learning: This Year will be dedicated for the Learning of the Four Constitutions of the Second Vatican Council: on divine revelation, liturgy, church, and church in the modern world.

2. Year of Praying: The parish community will engage in different sessions on prayer, inviting  parishioners to deepen their faith, foster community bonds, and seek spiritual enrichment.

3. Community Outreach Programs: In the spirit of jubilation and gratitude, the parish will engage in various community outreach initiatives, extending a helping hand to those in need and embodying the teachings of love and compassion.

Earlier at the Holy Mass, the logo for the Jubilee 2025 was unveiled. During the homily, a note of explanation on the logo and on the significance of Jubilee 2025 was given.
